Tara Jean Murphy is an artist currently residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She moved to Pittsburgh in 2019 from Akron, Ohio and is still discovering new and amazing inspirations throughout the city. When she isn't working on art, she is attempting a new recipe, playing video games, listening to music, or exploring Pittsburgh.
In 2020, I graduated from The University of Akron having majored in studio art with a minor in drawing. My artwork has been published in the 2020 Central Dissent journal, The Minute Hour, and the Buchtelite. While in school, my artwork won me a place in the prestigious bi-annual trip to the 2017 Venice Biennale. My artwork has been in multiple shows in the Akron area, including Static Flux, His Inner Portrait, and Form of Color.
My artwork focuses mainly on traditional media, including water-based media, ink, and colored pencil. The subject matter of my portfolio mainly deals with femininity and emotion through stylized figures and bright, aggressive colors.
Although these media and subject matters are my personal go-tos, I am no stranger to working in different media including digital work and commissioned subject matter requests.
I am looking for an opportunity to work with a team that runs on clear communication and creativity. I want to align myself with a company I believe in and where I can create positive change and flourish as an artist and as an individual. I am always looking to learn more and am open to taking on challenging projects.
